VESTAS PLAY AGAINST AUTISM

VESTAS staff raised more than £850 for the Isle of Wight branch of the National Autistic Society at a charity football match.

Nearly 400 employees and their families attended the match at Westwood Park, home of Cowes Sports FC, to watch Vestas (England) take on Vestas (Rest of the World).

Both teams were made up entirely of Vestas employees on the Island but the 22-man Vestas (ROTW) squad featured players who originate or have roots in other countries, including Italy, Nigeria, Spain, Ghana, New Zealand and Mexico.

Organised by the Vestas Technology R&D Sports and Social Club, the game was much closer than last year’s match, which saw Vestas (England) storm to a 7-1 victory.

It looked as though history might be repeated when Chris Gunningham put Vestas (England) ahead after just 16 minutes.
However at the final whistle, the trophy was presented to Vestas (England) captain Chris Monk, for the 2-1 victory.
