Yaya Toure Keen On Premier League Stay Next Season

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is keen on prolonging his Premier League career regardless of whether the Citizens offer him a new contract beyond the summer. The 34-year-old was handed a 12-month extension at the end of the previous season but has yet to start a league game this term with all seven of his appearances coming off the bench.

As such, his chances of getting another extension look highly unlikely but he is still prepared to remain in England. According to Metro, Tourehas a bumper £500,000-a-week offer from an unnamed Chinese outfit in addition to interest from ex-club AS Monaco but the veteran is firm on his decision to take up a new Premier League challenge.

Nevertheless, Toure may have to take a significant pay-cut on his current £140,000-a-week wages if he is to extend his career in the English top-flight. London outfit Crystal Palace have been identified as a possible destination for the former Barcelona man but any approach could depend on whether they can beat the Premier League drop.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are expected to reinforce the squad once more during the summer despite romping to the title during the current campaign. Guardiola has the defensive positions pretty much covered up but they still have to invest for a long-term replacement for Fernandinho whilst the Spaniard is also eyeing a new wide player.

A move for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez fell through during the backend of the winter transfer window but the Mancunian giants are being fancied to make a renewed attempt in the summer which should convince the Foxes into a sale. The ex-Premier League champions have been reluctant to offload the Algerian in recent transfer windows but the attacker appears clear on his mind to force through an exit this time around.
