Melbourne Victory Claim Crucial Win over Brisbane Thanks toBarbarouses

Melbourne Victory manager Kevin Muscat saw his team end a disastrous run of form by getting a crucial victory against Brisbane Roar just before the international break. Victory were able to secure a 2-1 success at home and this victory came just after a huge terrorist attack in New Zealand. The victory was achieved thanks to the brace from Kosta Barbarouses. The winger came up with a first-half brace and he was able to maintain his concentration despite being clearly affected by incidents at Christchurch on Friday. After the match,Barbarouses dedicated the victory to victims of the terrorist attack in Christchurch.

Muscat claimed that it was an outstanding performance from the winger especially in difficult circumstances. The victory has helped Melbourne Victory claim a first win in seven matches. Since beating Central Coast Mariners at the start of February, Melbourne Victory have been on a very poor run of form. The team has been losing sight of table leaders Perth Glory as a result. Since Perth Glory are the hosts to Melbourne Victory just after the international break, it was extremely important for Kevin Muscat’s team to get this victory and stay in touch with the table leaders.

“The victory is also essential for Melbourne Victory, who will be on the road in three consecutive matches. The next home game for Kevin Muscat’s team is in the middle of April against Central Coast Mariners.“All the cries at the start of the year were that he's not a striker and he needs to get out on the touchline and play out wide, but I certainly saw something within the framework that we've got, that he'll get chances and when he's facing the opponent's goal. When he's running towards that opponent's goal, he's dangerous and he's been rewarded tonight and the team has been rewarded with a performance “that earnt three points. On behalf of the club, our condolences go to everybody across in Christchurch,” said Muscat.
