RONALDO CRITICISED AFTER ANOTHER LEAN PERFORMANCE

Cristiano Ronaldo has been a shadow of himself in recent weeks in the colours of Italian Serie A giants Juventus and he showed no signs of returning to form at the weekend as the Old Lady dropped further points in the race for Champions League football.

Ronaldo and Juventus face a big battle in the quest to qualify for the Champions League next season with fifth-placed Napoli on their trail. Only the top four teams will represent Italy in Europe's premier club competition next season.

Juventus dropped more points in the Champions League race at the weekend following the 1-1 draw at the home of Fiorentina. Cristiano Ronaldo was largely ineffective as his team came from a goal down to secure a point in Florence.

The Italian champions had to rely on Spanish striker Alvaro Morata to earn that point in the absence of a sharp Cristiano Ronaldo. Morata scored the equaliser shortly after coming on as a substitute at the start of the second half. The Spaniard spent just one minute on the pitch before producing the equaliser.

Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic had given the hosts a 1-0 halftime lead with his penalty just before the half hour mark. Vlahovic has been a constant source of goals for Fiorentina this season and his penalty took his tally to 17 goals in the Italian top flight this season. He was on the way to securing an home win for his team until the abovementioned Morata struck for the visitors.

Juventus would be hoping that Cristiano Ronaldo discovers his form for the remaining games in the league this season. The Old Lady have five more games left to play to secure Champions League football. Juventus will drop out of the top four if Napoli manage to beat AC Milan at home in their own league game for the latest set of matches in the Italian Serie A.
